I know I have been a little silent these past two weeks. We’ve got loads to do and I just didn’t find the time to write.
Balancing act
Right now, life feels like a giant balancing act. I constantly seem to be close to falling off that tight rope of sanity. Moving brings out the worst in me it seems. We have so many things to do, letters to file, bills to cancel, boxes to pack, offices to notify, insurances to take care of… And that is just the tip of the ice berg. After all, Papa still works. And Bubsi still wants to be taken care of, too. Did I mention I was lucky to shower twice a week lately?
Main move, check!
Since last week, however, we are one large step closer to our goal. After packing all those boxes (47 instead of our estimated 25), a moving company moved them to Germany for us over night. Okay, they were like six hours late for the box pick up. That delay resulted in lots of stress, sweat, and tears. Mainly for Bubsi, who had to endure being strapped to my back in her Manduca post bedtime while I helped move Pie belongings down to the truck. But hey, no biggie, we just had to get up at 5a.m. the next morning to catch a plane.
Despite the lack of sleep due to the late night truck packing, move Wednesday went over surprisingly well. Bubsi slept on the plane and was in high spirits when she saw grandma D. Grandma D came down to help us with the move by taking care of Bubsi when Papa and I met the agent for the handover of our new flat. Which is gorgeous, by the way (but more on that another time)!
Contrary to our expectations, the moving truck actually arrived on time. While aunt H played with Bubsi, grandma D, Papa and I unloaded the boxes. We celebrated the fast unpacking with a takeaway from our favorite Asia restaurant in the new living room. After the family left, we called it an early first night in our new home, on our new mattress on the floor. The next day, we would return to London to clean our old flat and prepare the upcoming Iceland trip.
Actual balancing
Meanwhile, Bubsi has actually learned how to balance. She practices whenever she can and it is a joy to watch. Eben if it comes with the occasional bumps and bruises!
