When you have small kids, you do not get much sleep. That might be a universal truth unless you are one of the few lucky ones with really chill children. So what you need most is something to keep you awake, and often that ends up being coffee or sugar. The best place to get coffee and sugar without having to prepare stuff yourself is… A café! And our favorite with toddlers is the Epicafé!
Epicafé is special
We love the Epicafé located in Bremen Hastedt. Even though it is quite a trip away from home (i.e. more than 45 minutes on public transport). I would have never found out about it if it wasn’t for my friend G. G. lives somewhat closer to the café, and stumbled upon it by chance as well. It is run by a church, and only open for about three hours four days a week. Yet the perks are great: Low cost coffee, cakes, and hot chocolate of very reasonable quality. A friendly atmosphere, especially towards moms with children. More importantly, a play area that can be seen from all tables. Stocked with lots of age appropriate toys of course. An unlimited supply of crayons and paper for coloring. The Epicafé is basically just a very good deal overall.
Child-friendly places are lacking
The value of the Epicafé becomes apparent especially when you live downtown like we do. While there are many nice places around, they are usually not very child-friendly. Either they lack playing facilities and space, or the other customers and occasionally the staff are annoyed by our little lovely creatures. Who, yes, are not always quiet and well-behaved. And who you do not always want to spend lots of money on just to keep the waiters happy. Therefore I am always excited to find new child-friendly places to go to around town. Any suggestions?
